As a London-based esports and gaming journalist, I have gained extensive experience across a diverse range of game titles and esports ecosystems. After specialising in Apex Legends for two years of my career, I have since broadened my expertise in covering League of Legends, Dota 2, Counter-Strike, and Valorant.
Given the adverse conditions many women still face while navigating the professional esports and gaming industries, I also make an active effort to platform women, often discussing and engaging with extremely sensitive and critical industry issues. This includes managing delicate topics such as sexual assault, harassment, misogyny, and discrimination. I frequently advocate for change within the industry through storytelling. Primarily, this is achieved through respectfully and accurately conveying the stories of individuals who have approached me anonymously with their own experiences that they are unable to share themselves, either due to fear of backlash or further discrimination. Currently, I freelance full-time with Esports News UK. Here, I work within a small team to manage the news site, publishing articles across all esports titles and tournaments. |

Before joining Esports News UK full-time, I also took six months to re-adjust my perspective outside of the esports and gaming spheres through temporarily working as a mental health support worker. Through this endeavour to better understand the breadth of human experience, I have been able to offer greater understanding and empathy towards those whose experiences comprise the stories I write.
I have also built my experience in Journalism with Dot Esports and Esports Insider. Working for these publications allowed me to travel to countries such as Poland, Germany, France, and the USA to cover esports events, global tournaments, and high-profile brand activations. To better understand the navigation of the wider publishing sector, I also spent a year working as the Head of Digital Publishing at a fashion magazine and as Head Content Writer for an esports team. Alongside my primary career path in journalism, I have worked in the broader events, marketing, and media sectors. This includes working as the Head of Marketing and Partnerships at a charity between my undergraduate degree in Politics (BA) and my postgraduate degree in Digital Culture and Society (MA), freelancing in social media marketing to help fund my studies, and working in PR. My range of experience allows me the honour of also guiding others, including delivering university lectures and career talks. |

Although experience is, of course, vital in the worlds of writing and marketing, your determination, dedication, and diligence contribute much to your value.
As I have worked toward growing my personal career, a strong belief in the value of opportunity has grown alongside it. Many writers struggle to find opportunities at the start of their journey, especially as they work to build a portfolio of published work. Not everyone has the opportunity to work long hours for no pay, sacrificing their time to write posts and articles for long-term gain - especially young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. I am in the process of developing connections with young writers at the start of their careers, hoping to guide them through some of these initial steps. This includes delivering Media Safety and Journalism/Esports Career Guidance Sessions to College and University Students, offering online advice and guidance, and providing feedback to writers who request input from more experienced individuals. As a writer who struggled to buy food while working for pennies at the very beginning of my career, I strive to ensure others receive more support. |
